Chanderi Saris are woven with silk in the warp and fine-count cotton in the weft. Traditional Chanderi saris were nine-yards long, with a palav on either end of the sari. Weavers use the Jamdani technique for creating motifs that are largely inspired by Varanasi brocades.

Due to the use of non-degummed silk yarn or Cora in the warp these saris resemble the organza fabric and are usually semi transparent and extremely light compared to other genres of handlooms.
